Application Deadline: January 12, 2004
The Bauhaus Kolleg invites architects, designers, sociologists, ethnologists,
visual artists, and prospective candidates from other disciplines
with a graduate degree from all over the world to submit their application
for the Bauhaus FoundationTs second trimester of the Kolleg
Transit Spaces.
The application deadline is January 12, 2004, and the
trimester commences on January 29, 2004 and lasts until April 23,
2004. The
working language of the Kolleg is English. Participation is limited.
The international Bauhaus Kolleg is one of the most
unusal programs of its
kind worldwide. The objective of each trimester is the interdisciplinary
exploration of a specific, problem-oriented question and contemporary
interpretations of the experimental division of historical Bauhaus
thought
form the basis for answering it. An exhibition will present the findings
of
the each Kolleg at the end of the trimester and a publication is to
follow.
The participants of the current trimester are working
on a project that
explores issues of urban transition in Eastern Europe. Some of the
questions
being asked are: what kind of new geographic order is surfacing along
this
corridor? How do the flow of commodities, the expansion of the European
Union, ever-changing communication networks, pipelines transporting
natural
resources, and a commuting workforce affect the geography of Eastern
Europe?
And, what sort of tensions and clashes are emerging as a result of
global
mobility and local space existing side by side?
- The fee for one Kolleg trimester is 1600 Euro.
- The Bauhaus invites applicants to apply for two different types
